Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Cedar Trails Senior Living community and services.
I began my journey at Cedar Trails in November of 2014, assuming the role of Culinary Director. Over the next eight years, I immersed myself in the company. I gained comprehensive knowledge of every aspect involved in caring for our wonderful residents. I transitioned into the role of Executive Director in December 2022, which was an honor for me. This position not only enriches my life but also allows me to be there for our residents whenever they need me. It’s the residents who make each day at Cedar Trails special for me.
One of the greatest myths I’ve encountered is the assumption among residents that transitioning to Cedar Trails means automatically moving to long-term care. This assumption arises solely because their families want them to.
When discussing assisted living with families, I encourage them to bring their loved ones for a tour and a meal. I also let them know about upcoming events that would be enjoyable to attend. This hands-on approach helps family members gain a better understanding of what assisted living at Cedar Trails entails.
